End of the Spring Season!

Well everyone, we made it! Through unpredictable weather, poor field conditions, and some club directional changes, we have succeeded in providing a fun and engaging Spring season for all of our players from U5 to U19.

I would like to take a moment to thank all of our Parents, which without you we wouldn't’t have any players to field teams.  I would like to thank our coaches, which without you we wouldn’t have the ability to harness the players abilities into winning solutions.  I would also like to thank the countless other volunteers from board members to concession stand workers for all of your time, efforts, and talents, which without you we wouldn’t have a functioning club.

A couple items to keep on the look out for.

COACH FEEDBACK SURVEYS – You will receive a link via email to provide feedback to your player’s headcoaches.  All feedback is multiple choice so there isn't any way for specific feedback to be tracked back to a source.  This is a great opportunity to let your coaches know what they excelled in and what may be more of a challenge.

CLUB FEEDBACK SURVEYS – You will also receive a link to a club survey to help the board understand what areas we need to focus on in the upcoming months.

Both surveys are voluntary but I encourage you to provide your feedback because without it, we cannot make the club better.

Fall Registration Update

If you have friends in the Shaler Area who may not have been with the club in the spring, remind them of open registration.  Time is ticking away and we want to give every player registered the chance for an outstanding fall season.

Open Registration will run May 19ththrough June 28th.  Don’t delay!

Late registration will begin June 29th and run through July 14th.  NOTE: SSC only accepts late registrants on an as needed basis to create teams.  It is critical to sign your kids up before June 29thto ensure a roster spot regardless of player age.

Volunteers Needed

We will be reaching out to those who have indicated interest in volunteering in the next several weeks to discuss open opportunities.  Although we have some great interest, we need more people to stand up and volunteer to coach. Coaching continues to be one of our biggest challenges season over season resulting in multiple coaches having to coach several teams per season.  Even if you do not have an extensive history with the game, we are implementing supports in place to help you through your first season.  Please consider it.

The Fall season is a great time to get involved in soccer.  The fall is where a good majority of our players move up to the next age group, new players are joining us at our youngest Developmental levels, and everyone comes back energized from a long summer break.  With all of these moving parts, it is critical now more than ever to have our coaches, commissioners, and any of our various other volunteer positions lined before we hit the summer.  If you are thinking about volunteering or just want to know more about what it entails, please speak up.  The more time we have to talk with you, the better prepared you will be come the fall.

If you would like to know more about how you have volunteer please click this LINK.  You will find all of the different ways you can help the club and if you are interested in an executive board or member at large position, when you navigate to the respective page, you can click on the role to learn more or click on the current member to email them any questions.

Summer Activities

This summer, we would like to keep the action high by offering several opportunities to maintain your player’s skills.

Beginning in July, the club will be coordinating a weekly Wednesday Night Pick Up Game(s).  The pick up games are open to the community and are not formal Shaler Soccer Activities so anyone can come up and play. By definition, pick up games do not have refs, use line judges, flags, coaches, etc.  They are self governed by the players and possibly parents as necessary.  For those parents that do attend, if we get enough participation, we will consider opening a field for an adult game, so come limber and ready to play!

Also, don’t forget, there is still time to join us for the Complete Moves training program this summer. It is a great opportunity to learn from a highly trained and decorated professional coach each week from June to August.  You can find more information HERE.

Inter-Community Season Results

U10 Boys

Bennie:2-6-0 Coach Bennie had quite a season as a new coach with a group of boys that hadn't played much together in the past. Although the record doesn’t show it, the amount of hard work lead to a good season which will position these boys for a fantastic Fall!

Marsula:7-0-1 Team Marsula had a wonderful Spring season. The boys took the direction from Coach Marsula during practices and put it into action during some terrific matches going undefeated for this season. Way to Go!

Schmidt:2-5-1 Hanging tough is the theme for Coach Schmidt and his team of Highlanders.  They had some exciting wins and some challenging defeats, but the boys never eased up throughout the season.

U10Girls

Bianchi:7-0-1 Team Bianchi did a wonderful job representing SSC this season with an undefeated season.  Great job girls!

Crider:5-1-2 Team Crider came to play this season with a only one team lucky enough to score a win over them.

Fuscaldo:3-5-0 The girls of Team Fuscaldo should be proud of their resiliency, picking up three wins late in the season.  It shows that they didn’t have any quit in them and took their practices seriously to some wonderful results.

U12 Boys

Quinn:4-3-1 Team Quinn wrapped up the season with a respectable record, playing through poor field conditions, unpredictable weather, player injuries, and rescheduled games.

Rios:8-0-0 With a dominant showing this season, Coach Rios is exstatic of his teams performance.  Not only did they go undefeated this Spring, but they also picked up every win available!

Sidick: 2-6-0 Team Sidick had a stronger season than the record shows. Not only did the boys play in an older division of U13, they also had several games that were decided by a single goal.  Coach Sidick is very proud of the tenacity the boys have shown this season.

U12 Girls

Paladin:8-0-0 Team Paladin pulled off another fantastic season with some excellent playing and a resistance to accept anything less than total domination.  Excellent spring ladies!

Crider:3-4-1 Team Crider had a solid Spring season this year.  Evenly matched within their division, it will be exciting to see what they can do come this fall!

U14 Boys

Salego:7-0-1 Coach Salego took a group of boys from varying experience levels and crafted a winning team.  Every boy that stepped onto the field not only knew his role, but executed it to near perfection.  Well done gentlemen!

U14 Girls

Wilkins:5-1-2 A strong showing from Coach Wilkin’s team this spring.  On a trajectory to a perfect season, was only taken off course by a goal or two.  The ladies of Team Wilkins should feel incredible proud of their accomplishments this Spring!

U19

Heere:1-5-2 With a late addition of a U19 team this season, it was through hard work, determination, and solid coaching leadership that put together a competitive match up week over week.  Although the record could have placed more in the wins column, the opponents left those games thankful they were able to pull off the wins they did.  Well done to our Co-ed team Heere!
