Fall Registration Update

Registration is underway and some questions have come in around which age group your child may be entering.  Its not uncommon for there to be some questions when it comes to fall season registration.  This is the time that most of the kids begin playing in the next age group and it may seem incorrect or even down right scary for parents.

Being a parent and a coach for the developmental program for a few years now, I can assure you, the division moves, although they require a little getting used to, are more challenging for the parents then they are for the players.  They adapt quickly and you will see in most cases after a week or two, they are up to speed and progressing with the rest.  Remember, its not just one or two children moving up but the entire age division so there is plenty of good company along for the ride.

For an easy reference on age groups.

For 2019-2020

Open Registration will run May 19ththrough June 28th.  Late registration will begin June 29th and run through July 14th.  NOTE: SSC only accepts late registrants on an as needed basis to create teams.  It is critical to sign your kids up before June 29thto ensure a roster spot regardless of player age.

Dogs!

Dogs, to some they are the greatest companions and to others the star of their own internal horror movies. One thing should be universal, although dogs are welcome in many of our homes, our soccer fields should remain K-9 free.

Since the fields are township or school owned, there isnt a formal no dogs alowed ordinance that we can enforce, but as a club, we ask that you keep Charlie, Coco, Daisy, Bailey, Lola, Molly, Sadie, Mr. Snicklefitz, Oscar, Bodi, Chloe, and any other named or unamed dogs at home.  They can leave surprises on the field, they can play with kids allergies, and they can scare children and parents alike.  All of these go against the community aspect we are trying so hard to revitalize.

Volunteers Needed

We are getting some great volunteer numbers coming in and that calls for a big THANK YOU from me to you, but we cant stop now.  We have several critical positions opening up on the board this coming year and we would like to get a head start on preparing the new leaders.  If you would like to know more about how you have volunteer please click this LINK.  You will find all of the different ways you can help the club and if you are interested in an executive board or member at large position, when you navigate to the respective page, you can click on the role to learn more or click on the current member to email them any questions.

Upcoming Events

Come on out to Kiwanis Park Friday May 24 and find the SSC section for the Shaler Parks Department presents Minions Movie in the park!

NOTICE: Memorial Day weekend will require all players, coaches and families to steer clear of Fawcett and Denny fields as the township applies a tick repellant.  Please make sure to avoid the field surfaces beginning May 24 through May 27.
